Blessing Jars are the creation of Sara Patterson, often called "the Blessing Jar Lady" by people who know her best. She has been busy doing art projects since she was a child and says, "I guess I never outgrew it as I got older. I am 23 years old and still love doing projects that allow me to use all my creative ideas."
The Blessing Jar started out as a creative idea for a Valentine's Day gift for Sara's mother, Carlette. For as long as Sara can remember, her mother has been sharing positive thoughts with her and everyone she knows. Sara continues, "she loves to read motivational books and hang motivational posters up in our house. My mom is always full of positive and inspiring words, she even has a thought of the day on our answer machine! My mom is so optimistic and full of hope even when she faces the struggles and hard times life brings. She is the true Blessing in my life and the reason I created the Blessing Jar."
On Valentine's Day, Carlette's favorite holiday, she opened her gift made from her favorite quotes and sayings, decorated in her favorite colors and she loved it! She loved it so much she showed it to all her friends and they all wanted one as well. So overnight, Sara's simple gift became what's known as The Blessing Jar. "Valentine's Day is my mom's favorite holiday and I wanted to make her something special! I wanted my mom to have something that she would love and use everyday. That's when I got the idea for the Blessing Jar! I began to look around the house for the perfect container and I came across an old glass candle jar with a unique fitting lid. It was perfect! Then, I started looking through all her books of quotes and motivational sayings till I found enough to fill the jar. After that, I decorated the jar with purple ribbons and heart shaped beads because purple and hearts are what she loves. Finally, I put the quotes on purple patterned paper and put them in the jar. It was finished!"
